I bought a motorbike and rode 3000 km from the south to the north of Vietnam. A solo traveling woman on a motorbike was quite a surprise for many locals, but my “vulnerability” triggered many interesting encounters. On two wheels I saw the authentic country; I experienced nothing but great hospitality and appreciation from the local families and other travelers. I was greeted by thousand smiles of children screaming “hello!” and met people who have never seen a foreigner before. I rode on the coastline and through the mountains and saw places so beautiful that I could not believe my eyes. I was also lucky to discovered a new type of freedom.
