Chris makes these trips, these quests to seek beauty because he puts nature at the centre of his lens. He reports back from the field to an audience tuned into his every journey.
Iceland is one of the many places he has made his subject. The rawness of the island grips every image with a cold beauty. It’s an unstoppable wanderlust – people want to experience these places for themselves, physical manifestations of the still images they ‘double-tap’ in appreciation.
To experience Mother Nature, to be physically in her presence draws out a deep and genuine respect that is only semi-possible through the lens, Chris understands this. He understands the curiosity of people inspired to make their own experiences in the landscape. He believes simply by being aware of principals like ‘Leave No Trace’ that it could be the catalyst for a growing number of ‘outsiders’ to make more meaningful efforts to preserve the ground beneath their feet.
Whether it’s paddling out into the bitterly cold waters or driving along single-track-roads into the vast an empty interiors, Iceland is just the backdrop for a much wider story Chris has been able to capture through his lens. Albert Einstein once said: “Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better.”
