Peninsula South

Herbie and Nathan Fletcher

In the 70s, surf legend Herbie Fletcher used to run away from the crowded spots and lineups of California and crossed the border to surf the waves of Baja. Today, Nixon brings together Herbie and his son, Nathan, for a road trip down memory lane. They head down to Baja and revisit a familiar place, exploring their common love for the Mexican paradise. “Down here, it’s about a lifestyle. You’re camping around nature, you’re making fires, you’re looking at sunsets. It’s a different world. And I like it.” explains Herbie.

“Peninsula South” captures Herbie’s pioneering spirit and makes an intimate portrait of the Fletcher family. The short film also gives an insight into a unique father-son relationship. “He’s like a little kid but he’s also like a master. So it’s good to be around and it’s good to learn from him.” Nathan says. The 26 years-old Australian filmmaker Riley Blakeway offers us a 7’21 minutes- film of pure enthusiasm for surfing and life.
