A total of 48 athletes from 16 countries took part in what is known as the ‘world’s coolest marathon’. The race location, on the drifting ice floes of the Geographic North Pole, can even attract hungry polar bears. A temperature of -30C that dipped even lower with the wind chill makes this not only a slow race but a mentally challenging one.
