The ocean and the waves where always his home, Mickey Smith grew up in a family of fishermen and mariners in the coasts of Ireland. With his photographs, videos and installations he shows his adventurous approach to life, and his love for riding big cold waves. This short film, Dark Side of the Lens, is produced by Astray Films, and has won the Best Short prize in the New York Surf Film Festival 2011 and the Grand Prize in the Chamonix Film Festival 2011, amongst other recognitions.
